Crosshatch Blanket
The Crosshatch Blanket in made from Mary Maxim’s very own Aspen yarn with tilted blocks of double crochet make the colors go this way and that.
Aspen is a bulky weight yarn that is a roving type yarn that is self-striping and a very soft 100% acrylic that makes it safe to machine wash and dry. It has the feel of a mixed fiber yarn. Aspen yarn comes in eight unique colors that can be chosen for your preference in this blanket. This yarn lends itself nicely with this simple pattern, making splashes of different colors instead of a stripe effect.
This blanket is very easy to crochet and is a good beginner project that is done in double crochet stitches, in a crosshatch design that tilts the blocks so the colors are enhanced. Once the basic pattern is established it is repeated easily to complete the blanket. Gauge is not terribly import in this project, but staying consistent in tension will give it an accomplished look. It is worked on a large hook so it works up quickly to a generous size of 45 by 52 inches.
Finishing the blanket will give the beginner crocheter a sense of accomplishment and pride. Experienced crocheter will enjoy making this beautiful blanket also, as it is a quick project that you can keep and be proud of, or to give as a lovely gift to someone you care for.
The blanket has a soft lofty feel to it yet has some weight to it as the yarn is a bulky yarn, it also feels textured because of the roving style of the yarn.
This blanket works up to a size that is wonderful to curl up in on the couch or your favorite chair. If you decide to keep the blanket and use it in your own home, or if you give it as a gift, this blanket will keep you warm on cool evenings. Kit includes Mary Maxim Aspen yarn (shown in Skyline) and pattern. Finished size 45″ (114.3 cm) x 52″ (132.08 cm).  Requires crochet hook K-10.5.
